Core Values

At the International Leadership Meeting in 2005 there was the realization that there is a feminine spirit within the Family of Women that shapes our actions and defines our identity. The women recognized that there were some key qualities that are a representation of our collective values, and symbolize what we stand for. These were developed as Core Values and the Family of Women is embracing them as an expression of who we are. The Core Values are a declaration that will guide the Family of Women in all its actions.

Legacy:  We embrace and honor the wisdom of the women who came before us.  Building on this legacy, we take our place as role models for all women to follow.  We own our past and create our future.

Relationship:  We are a stand for healthy relationships; everything we do is based on being 100% responsible for the success of our relationships.  We bring our best to all of our relationships by being authentic and fully self-expressed.  We believe enrollment is a way of being in relationship that inspires and allows visions to become reality.

Family:  We value families, and believe that a healthy family creates responsible adults by providing a safe, nurturing environment that strengthens all within it.  The work we do benefits our families and the families in our community.  We agree that it takes a village to raise a child.

Service:  We express our gratitude and embrace our responsibility to humanity through being of service to our members, alumnae and society at large.  We believe that our acts of service strengthen our communities and allow each of us to realize our purpose in the world.

Commitment:  The commitments we make are based on our priorities and in alignment with our purpose.  We integrate discipline in our lives to manifest our visions on an individual, local and organizational level.  We honor our word and do the work necessary to have what we want in our lives.

Leadership:  We lead from the wisdom in our hearts and we believe all women are leaders.  Women leading as women can achieve incredible results, bring about social change and give hope to future generations.

Empowerment:  We offer all women opportunities to discover and embrace their power as women and as leaders.  We support women to be responsible for their choices and actions.  We are role models for taking risks, being successful, and achieving our dreams.

Communication:  We communicate in a timely fashion with context, clarity, consistency and compassion.  We empower and unite women through our effective listening, speaking and written communication.  We are mindful of confidentiality in all of our communication.

Respect:  We honor and respect the similarities and differences among our members, alumnae and other organizations, and the value they bring in support of our mission.  We also honor and respect the time, effort and commitment of our volunteers.  The standards we hold are a reflection of the respect we have for each other.
